State of Florida ri;'f <br />r <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />Interoffice Memorandum <br />April 28, 1982 <br />TO: Art Wilde <br />FROAI: Chrys Sullivan <br />SUBJECT: Local Government Comprehensive Plan Review <br />Indian River County <br />COMMENTS: <br />The information in the recreation and open space element <br />was very good as far as it went, but seemed incomplete. . <br />.It was unclear how the public was involved in the planning <br />process and how their wants and needs were identified and <br />included in the element. Recreation standards cited were limited <br />to acreage, and facility standards_(i.e., tennis courts, swimming <br />pools, etc.) appear to have been forgotten. Data was missing <br />from Tables 1-4-. Site locations/addresses were omitted, and <br />acreage and other data were not always included. Without this <br />data it was difficult to understand how an accurate analysis <br />could be conducted to identify specific acreage and facility <br />needs. <br />Correlations between this element and others in this plan <br />were not included, and we found no relationships identified <br />between this element and others such as the..county, region <br />and state, either. <br />With some supplemental data, this element could provide <br />a much more useful and meaningful guide for recreation and open <br />space development in Indian River County.. <br />CS/gb <br />'JUL 13 1982 <br />ATTACHMENT #1 (18 of 21) <br />�QK 50 P.m 373 <br />
