9/14/92(LEGAL)doc(0b) ORDINANCE 92- 38 AN ORDINANCE -GF -INDIAN RIVER -COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 401 - BUILDING CODES; SECTION 401.12 STANDPIPES OF THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY CODE. WHEREAS, the current code requirement for the installation of standpipes for fire protection within structures has flow and pressure requirements which exceed national standards, and WHEREAS, these flow and pressure requirements are difficult to meet for residential structures, and WHEREAS, a reduction in flow and pressure standards in these cases will not compromise fire safety and will be compatible with the Code in effect in the City of Vero Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that: SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Section 401.12 Standpipes is amended by to read as follows: Section 401.12. Standpipes. Section-902-of-the-SBdis- amended -to-read --as-follo s 1. Section 902 shall apply only to buildings to be constructed with a height of 3 or more stories. 2. Building of three (3) stories or exceeding 50 feet in height (only) shall be provided with a Class I standpipe system with a minimum water supply , at the hydraulically most remote hose connection of 30 PSI residual pressure at the outlet with 200 GPM flowing from the outlet. 3. All requirements of Section 902, except to the extent modified by paragraphs (1) and (2) of this section shall apply. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall become effective on becoming law.
