U REFERENCES: <br />Public Works Director <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Bids were received September 21, 1982 for a Pavement Stripper and Traffic Paint. <br />During the August 4, 1982 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, the <br />Public Works Division was instructed to purchase Traffic Signal Maintenance <br />Equipment and Pavement Marking Equipment so that the related functions can be <br />accomplished "in-house" Funding was to come from unencumbered FY 81-82 funds - - <br />_ in Account No. 111-214-541-66.44 Traffic_ Signals_ and Markers (unencumbered balance <br />as of August 26, 1982 is $83,444.) <br />Bids were received September 21, 1982 for a Pavement Stripper and Traffic Paint. <br />For the Stripper, bid documents were sent to seven (7) companies. Five companies <br />responded, with two submitting no bid. The low bid was received by Dave Smith <br />and Co., Inc., Fort Lauderdale, F1. in the amount of $6,060.00. The Equipment <br />bid meets specifications. The bid tabulation is attached.' <br />For the Traffic Paint, bid documents were sent to five (5 ) companies. Three <br />companies submitted bids, with the low bid being submitted by Redland Prismo <br />Corp., Parsippany, N.Y. in the amount of $4.61 per gallon for white traffic <br />paint and $4.42 for yellow paint. As specified in the bid documents, the <br />County is purchasing 825 gallons of the white paint totaling $3,803.25 and <br />550 gallons of the yellow paint totaling $2,431, for a grand total of $6,234.25. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Since the low bids meet specifications, there is no objection to aw?rding the <br />bids to the low bidders. <br />RECOMgDMATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the following low bids be awarded: <br />IRC #144 - Pavement Stripper - Dave Smith and Co., Inc - $6,060.00 <br />IRC #145 - White and Yellow Traffic Paint - Redland Prismo Corp."- $6,234.25 <br />Funding in the amount of $12,294.25 to be from Account 111-214-541-66.44 Traffic <br />Signals and Markers. <br />97 <br />
