COMMENTS BY JUDGE STIKELETHER RE TAPE RECORDER <br />Judge Stikelether approached the Board and stated that <br />he would limit his statements to the prepared statement <br />'which he was reading and would answer no further questions <br />or have further comment to any one at this particular time. <br />He continued that this concerned a phone call he and his <br />judicial assistant received this morning regarding the tape <br />recorder. The Judge stated he was pleased to have this <br />opportunity to speak to the Commission, although it would be <br />after the fact, since various Commission discussions <br />concerning him were discussed. He was curious to know <br />whether Dr. Feldman's letter was on the agenda for today; <br />and if not, he wanted everyone to understand the full import <br />of that letter. If the letter was not on the agenda, it was <br />interesting how this item.got on the agenda as opposed to <br />the letter. Judge Stikelether wanted everyone to understand <br />the full importance of Dr. Feldman's statement that <br />according to the latest County test, his courtroom and his <br />judicial assistant's office in the courthouse had a minimum <br />of 40 times the amount of formaldehyde which they were <br />permitted to be exposed to, even for a duration of several <br />minutes, without violent reaction. Insofar as his office <br />was concerned, the same report, sanctioned by the County, <br />showed a minimum of 62 times the amount of formaldehyde <br />above which they <br />were allowed <br />to be <br />exposed <br />to <br />without <br />extremely violent <br />reactions. <br />Insofar <br />as the <br />tape <br />recorder <br />was concerned, at the time the bill for the tape recorder <br />was submitted to be paid, he fully expected and told several <br />individuals that it would be the number one item on the <br />County Commission agenda. But, at 9;04, without notice to <br />him, the Judge learned it had already been discussed. Judge <br />Stikelether noted that, insofar as the cost of the tape <br />recorder was concerned, Finance Officer Barton prepared the <br />Judge's budget personally since they had none of their <br />OCT 6 1982 27 - <br />
