NATURAL GROUNDWATER AQUIFER RECHARGE SUB -ELEMENT <br />Floridan aquifer by maintaining a very low land use density (- - <br />III LIICSC diCdS, (:U1l1EJdLliJ1C W1LI1 UeIIbILJ <br />Indian River County future land use map. <br />POLICY 4,4: The county shall continue to utilize existing <br />interlocal agreements with other local governments, as <br />dent'intergovernmental Coordi <br />nation Element, to ensure maximum efficiency of water manage- <br />ment, by combining resources and eliminating duplication. <br />—�_.- - POLICY 4.5: By 1992, the county, in- coordination with the <br />- state and other local governments, shallstudy the—feasibil- <br />ity of combining the operational responsibilities of all <br />water related activities under one agency to eliminate <br />duplication of effort and to ensure efficient protection and <br />provision of water for various uses.. <br />OBJECTIVE 5 Capital Improvements <br />By 1992, the county will have a specific capital improvements <br />program in place or the aquisition and protection ofthe prime <br />groundwater aquifer recharge areas. <br />POLICY 5.1: The county will maintain a five-year schedule of <br />capital improvement needs for public facilities, to be <br />updated annuallyin conformance with the- review process for <br />the Capital Improvements Element of this plan. <br />POLICY 5.2: By 1992, the county shall complete a study which <br />ranks the primary aquifer recharge areas and the conservation <br />areas for aquisition and identifies alternate sources of <br />funding. <br />POLICY 5.3: Beginning with Fiscal year 1993, the county <br />shall allocate funds in its capital improvements program for <br />the preservation, protection, and aquisition of the prime <br />natural groundwater aquifer recharge areas as being iden- <br />H i ,ed--iy the SJRWMD. -The--results of—the study of policy <br />shall be incorporated in the Conservation and Recreation/Open <br />Space Elements of the Comprehensive Plan to prioritize the <br />use of allocated funds. <br />POLICY 5.4: The county shall pursue state and federal <br />sources of funding available for the preservation and pro- <br />tection of environmentally sensitive areas, such as prime <br />natural groundwater aquifer recharge areas. <br />39 <br />SmeadSoft Reprint Date: Monday, August 12, 2013 - 15:22:26 - OfficialDocuments:672, Attachment Id 0, Page 66 <br />
