10/25/90(ORD1)Legal/Vk/DW <br />ORDINANCE NO. 90- 26 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, ON BEHALF OF THE NORTH INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT, INCREASING THE <br />AUTHORIZED AD VALOREM TAXING POWER OF THE <br />DISTRICT FROM ONE MILL TO THREE MILLS; <br />PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM OF THE <br />QUA-LIF1-ED ELECTORS -OF --THE D-tSTRI1CT_TO HE <br />HELD MARCH 12, 1991; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE, <br />WHEREAS, in 1980 Indian River County created three <br />se� dependent specral taxi-ng--ctistr-i is fo-r the <br />provision of fire and rescue services throughout most of <br />Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, the voters of the County approved by <br />refe en um an ad valorem taxing_power of -three mills for the <br />South and West Districts and one-half mill for the North <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, by subsequent referendum the voters of the <br />North District increased the authorized millage from <br />one-half mill to one mill; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has proposed the creation <br />of a new consolidated Emergency Services District, which <br />would replace the North, West, and South Indian River County <br />Fire Districts; and <br />WHEREAS, this issue will be voted on on March 12, 1991, <br />and if passed by the voters would take effect October 1, <br />1992; and <br />-W#EREAS f-af--he�Lss-a�-yea- beg -i nna-ng-Gct-obe-rte-,l-997 <br />through September 30, 1992, it will be necessary for the <br />North Fire District to increase its millage to that levied <br />by the South and West Districts, if additional and unified <br />Words striken through are deletions; <br />words underlined are additions <br />SmeadSoft Reprint Date: Monday, August 12, 2013 - 15:27:40 - OfficialDocuments:676, Attachment Id 0, Page 1 <br />
