Davis, p,,E , I�IEFERE VA' CiES: Albert Jay.'Colkitt- k..:Jr . , Col,: 1 <br />Public Works Director' Sheet Metal and Ai=eonditio.n:i nc <br />to .James W.•'Davis dated <br />September 29, 1982-- <br />DESCRIPTION <br />98 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />In accordance with the contract executed on August 9, 1982, <br />between Colkitt Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning, Inc.,:and Indian <br />River -County, Florida, the Contractor has informed the -County that <br />all materials and labor has been supplied for the subject project. <br />As the notice to proceed was issued on August 9, 1982, work was <br />to have -been completed or or before September 8, 1982. <br />'ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Inspection of the work on October 7, 1982 by Lynn Williams <br />'(Building Maintenance Supervisor), Rex Myers (Building Maintenance <br />Foreman), and Jim Davis revealed that the units have been installed <br />in conformance with the contract documents. The Jail Administrator, <br />Capt. Baird, has approved the installation, and.the Architect's <br />HVAC Engineer, William Cox, has approved the specifications of the - <br />units subject to minor notations which have been transmitted to <br />the Contractor. <br />-The Contractor could not complete the work by September 8, <br />1982, due to the Electrical Contractor havingdifficulties° It <br />is therefore the Public Works Division's opinion that--a-time exten <br />sion of 21 days is justifiable. The following alternatives are <br />presented <br />.- <br />--Alternative No-.-- 1 - Approve -Tin al:.payment,-in the cLmount <br />of -:$1 -3,x038. --for Fid 'item- No. 4i HVAC. .approve a time <br />extension to-•'.che -original- contract of 21 days. <br />%Alternative No. 2 -- Approve final payment in the amount of <br />$13;958.. Deny the -21 -day time extension and apply liqui- <br />..:•_.dated damages. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />_ It is recommended that Alternative No. i be approved and <br />the following action be taken: <br />• 1) Approve -final payment to Colkitt Sheet Metal and Air <br />Conditioning, Inc., in the amount of $13,958. foi Bid <br />.Item No. 4, HVAC, Project No. 8122. <br />2). Approve•a 21 day time extension to the original contract. <br />-time of completion. ' <br />3) Approve funding from Account NO. 001-906-523 <br />Maintenance of County Jail- FY 81-82 unencumbered balance <br />is approximately $40,000. <br />4) Accept the project as complete. <br />All contractor affidavits and Final paymen� forms have been <br />completed. <br />96 <br />r � <br />
