N O V 3 1982 BOOK 51 , <br />REQUEST FROM SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR FILL FOR FELLSMERE SCHOOL <br />The Board reviewed memo of Public Works Director Davis: <br />'TO: The Honorable Members of DATE: October 25, 1982 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />THRU: Michael Wright, SUBJECT: Request from School District of <br />County Administrator Indian River County for County <br />Trucks to Haul Fill in Fellsmere <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.Ej REFERENCES: James A. Burns, Superintendent <br />Public Works Director to Commissioner Fletcher dater <br />. October 12, 1982 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The School District is requesting that the County Road and <br />Bridge Department supply large trucks to haul approximately <br />500 cubic yards of fill to the Fellsmere School from various _ <br />locations within the Fellsmere Farms Water District. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The County has six (6) large trucks (12 ,cy) available to per- <br />form this work, however, various ongoing jobs require use of <br />these vehicles. Due to the abnormally wet year Indian River <br />County has experienced, drainage and road work is the primary <br />focus at this time. Furthermore, the voting season has re- <br />quired much Road and Bridge personnel time to move the voting <br />machines. <br />The following alternatives are presented: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />The cost of renting outside trucks from local contractors <br />to perform this work is approximately $2000. Since county <br />trucks cannot be spared to perform this work in a short time <br />frame, perhaps the School District could contract with'a local <br />firm. If this is not feasible, it is possible that Road and <br />Bridge can perform this work as time and equipment is avail- <br />able, as determined by the Road and Bridge Superintendent. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Authorize the Road and Bridge Department to perform this <br />work. If this is required at the present time, much needed <br />Road and Bridge work will go unattended. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that Alternative <br />requesting the School District to <br />to perform this work.
