Comprehensive Plan Capital Improvements Element <br />table 6.5, the county spent $53,489,116 on transportation facilities in FY 2007/08. Since FY 2002/03, <br />transportation expenditures have increased by 165.84%. Transportation expenses represented 22.07% <br />of all county expenses in FY 2007/08. <br />Economic Environment <br />Included in this category are the costs of providing services which develop and improve the economic <br />condition of the community and its citizens. Veteran Services, the Housing Authority, and the <br />Economic Development Division of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce undertake this <br />function. Table 6.5 shows that those agencies spent $4,579,574 on economic environment services in <br />FY 2007/08. Between fiscal years 2006/07 and 2007/08, economic environment expenditures <br />increased by 372.99%. Since FY 2002/03, economic environment expenditures have increased by <br />684.38%.
