C E C 11992 <br />Fx,uL52; <br />BEACH ACQUISITION SUB -COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Bird advised that it would be helpful if a <br />sub -committee were formed to work closely with staff in <br />assessing the beachfront needs. He then recommended the <br />following: Attorney Darrell Fennell; Harry Offutt, CPA; Bob <br />Koehler, banker;. Dick Bird, Commissioner; and Al McAdam, of <br />Indian River Shores. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke,.SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />approved Commissioner Bird's recommendation <br />for the Beach Acquisition Sub -Committee. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. It was <br />voted on and carried unanimously. <br />Attorney Brandenburg inquired if his office would <br />provide legal assistance, instead of the Sub -Committee. <br />Commissioner Bird responded affirmatively. He inf-ermed <br />the Board that staff was preparing a map designating the <br />parcels that the County owns and that are available to the <br />public. The Sub -Committee would work with the Tax Assessor <br />and try to make a determination as to where they need to <br />acquire additional oceanfront property. Once that had been <br />determined, Commissioner Bird stated they would contact the <br />individual property owners. He commented the first <br />preference would be an outright donation; the second choice <br />would be a combination of a donation and purchase; and the <br />third would be a purchase. <br />BEACH & SHORES DISCUSSION <br />Commissioner Wodtke advised the Board that he received <br />a call from Congressman Bill Nelson regarding the reef <br />"J <br />7 <br />
