Comprehensive Plan Capital Improvements Element <br />table 6.5, the county spent $40,841,272 on transportation facilities in FY 2008/09. Since FY 2003/04, <br />transportation expenditures have increased by 77.28%. Transportation expenses represented 21.93% <br />of all county expenses in FY 2008/09. <br />Economic Environment <br />Included in this category are the costs of providing services which develop and improve the economic <br />condition of the community and its citizens. Veteran Services, the Housing Authority, and the <br />Economic Development Division of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce undertake this <br />function. Table 6.5 shows that those agencies spent $653,547 on economic environment services in <br />FY 2008/09. Between fiscal years 2006/07 and 2007/08, economic environment expenditures <br />increased by 372.99%. Since FY 2002/03, economic environment expenditures have increased by <br />684.38%.
