JAN 5 1983 <br />ONE-TIME INCREASE IN NACo DUES <br />Book �3 �r4i�t 504 <br />The Board reviewed the following memo from the <br />Corm,ission Secretary: <br />TO: Board of County DAA. December , <br />Commissioners FILE: <br />FROM: Liz Forlani <br />SUBJECT: Letter cc11/22/82 <br />REFERENCES: <br />The County pays to National Association of Counties (NACo) a <br />County Member Service Fee'based on the County's population x a <br />Cost per Person + a Processing Fee which totals out to $457.00. <br />This fee is for a 12 month period ending April 30,1983. The <br />State Association of County Commissioners is requesting a <br />one-time special service fee to NACo in the amount of 50% of <br />their annual dues. Indian River County's share would be $228.50. <br />They have stated that the Counties participating will be given <br />credit for this amount in the future. <br />The SACC has also informed us that an increase in NACo' s <br />Member Service Fee of 15% has been voted on and approved and will <br />take effect at renewal time - April 30, 1983. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, to <br />authorize payment of the one-time special <br />service fee to NACo in the amount of $228.50. <br />(Commissioner Fletcher was not in favor of paying the <br />requested fee. <br />Commissioner Lyons believed that the NACo is one more <br />arm of the County to help with the federal end of our <br />business, and he felt we need all the help we can get. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried 4 to 1 with <br />Commissioner Fletcher voting in opposition. <br />26 <br />
