He felt they have done <br />a good job on parts and service, and emphasized that the Galion <br />the County now owns has been found very satisfactory. <br />Discussion arose as to the time it takes to get spare parts, <br />and Mr. Miller reported that his company has six branches in the <br />state and parts could be obtained over night in instances. <br />Ile pointed out that Caterpillar has been on strike for four <br />months, which is bound to affect their parts situation. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Wodtke to accept the <br />recommendation of staff and award the Bid to Kelly Tractor for a <br />Caterpillar grader since this is a heavier machine; our operators <br />have experience in operation and maintenance of the Caterpillar <br />equipment; and we can transfer parts. <br />The Motion died for lack of a second. <br />Chairman Bird concurred with Commissioner Fletcher that, in <br />this instance, we have a close enough comparison that we might <br />hurt ourselves in future bidding if we did not go with the low <br />bidder. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Fletcher, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, Commissioner Wodtke <br />voting in opposition, the Board by a 4 to 1 <br />vote awarded Bid 0152 to the low bidder, Florida -- <br />Georgia Tractor for a Galion Road Grader in the <br />amount of $75,839.17. <br />VACATING PLAT OF RAVINIA GARDENS SUBDIVISION <br />Attorney Brandenburg reviewed the following memo, confirming <br />that this matter is properly before the Board and all require- <br />ments for vacation have been met.
