This is being <br />discussed with the Sheriff. <br />DISCUSSION RE OPPOSITION TO DEEP WELL INJECTION <br />Commissioner Bowman requested that an item be added to <br />the agenda in regard to a request by a Mr. Lawton for the <br />Chairman to send a letter to Brevard County telling them we <br />are opposed to deep well injection. <br />r <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />added the emergency item requested by Commis- <br />sioner Bowman to the agenda. <br />Chairman Bird noted that we drew up a Resolution <br />expressing our opposition to deep well injection and hand <br />carried it to a meeting of the Brevard County Commission, <br />but they proceeded on this course anyway. <br />Commissioner Bowman informed the Board that Mr. Lawton <br />addresses a different angle of deep well injection and <br />wishes us to request the Board of Governors of St. John's <br />Water Management District to make certain that maximum use <br />be made of the effluent and that permits be issued only when <br />no other reasonable means of disposal is available; in other <br />words, look to irrigation use of effluent first.
