Commissioner Scurlock also felt that we do need a specific <br />time. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />Chairman Bird stated that he would like to support the <br />request made by the City of Vero Beach to be withdrawn. <br />Commissioner Scurlock believed we already have a <br />Resolution to that effect, but Commissioner Wodtke noted <br />that we asked not to be included, but we were, and he would <br />like to reemphasize our position and ask to be withdrawn. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Wodtke, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock for pur- <br />poses of discussion, to request that Indian <br />River County be withdrawn from participation <br />in the Hutchinson Island Resource Planning <br />and Management Committee. <br />Discussion continued at length as to the advisability <br />of being completely deleted from the committee rather than <br />working through the committee to protect our interests, the <br />report policies and how they would affect us, etc. <br />Mr. Shannon believed that in the Charlotte Harbor area <br />and the Suwanee River area studies the Governor and Cabinet <br />decided not to designate any jurisdictions as an area of <br />critical concern. <br />Commissioner Scurlock stated that he would encourage us <br />to request that we not be designated an area of critical <br />concern since he believed it will be impossible to be <br />removed from the committee in any event. <br />Mayor Dorothy Cain expressed great concern that this is <br />simply a grab by the state to take power from the local <br />21 <br />MAY 2 5 1983 a P9. <br />
