Orr ' /\;&, <br />Traffic Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Traffic Signal Maintenance and Operation <br />Order #3-83; U.S, 1 at C-512 <br />REFERENCES: <br />This is in response to a request from the Florida Department of Transportation to sign <br />the subject document prior to the start of the traffic signal design phase and funding <br />committment. - <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />X traffic engineering study of the intersection of U.S. 1 and County Road 512 was con- <br />ducted during January 1983 as petitioned by the City of.Sebastian and assigned by the <br />Transportation Planning Committee. The study recommended signalizing the subject in- <br />tersection due to significant traffic volume, which was subsequently approved by the <br />Transportation Planning Committee in February, 1983 and submitted to the F.D. O.T. <br />for approval. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />A. Approve installation of a traffic signal at U.S. 1 and C.R. 512 and <br />assume maintenance responsibilities. <br />B. Deny installation of a traffic signal at U.S. 1 and C.R. 512. <br />FUNDING AND RECOMMENDATION <br />The F.D.O.7. concurred with the study performed by the County and has scheduled install- <br />ation of the traffic signal during FY 84-85 with 100% state funding. <br />It is recommended to approve the installation of a traffic signal at the subject inter- <br />section using State funding by signing Traffic Signal Maintenance and Operation Order <br />#3-83 which commits the County to maintain the traffic signal after installation by <br />the F.D.O.T. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock, the <br />Board unanimously authorized for <br />signature by the Chairman the Traffic <br />Signal Maintenance and Operation Order <br />#3-83, as recommended by staff. <br />17 <br />L JUN 1 1983 <br />x .3 1 <br />
