M <br />M - -- <br />It is requested that Section 5 3 (page 4) bechanged as follows: <br />"Protected Tree. ...all specimen and historic trees, <br />and all trees of West Indian origin greater than two (2) <br />inches DK and mangroves..." <br />(page 4) Section 5 g. <br />= Conocarpus erectus <br />(page 7) Section 7 G. <br />Tree removal, land clearing, or grubbing of any vegetation, except mangrove <br />or dune vegetation, upon any detached single family residential plot or parcel <br />of land having an area of 1.0 acres or less, provided that not more than 75% <br />of the protected tree canopy will be removed, -and provided further that this <br />exemption shall not be construed... <br />(page 7) Section 7 H. (NEW) <br />Detached single family residential plots or parcels of land having an <br />area greater than 1.0 acres will be governed as in Section 7 G except that not <br />more than 50% of the protected tree canopy will be removed. <br />(page 7) Section 7 I. (NEW) <br />Dense stands of saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) on detached single family <br />residential plots or parcels of land that pose a fire hazard and thus a threat <br />to human safety, buildings, or to protected trees, may be removed provided <br />disturbance to other plant species is minimal. <br />Public Works Director Davis commented that Section 10 C <br />on Page 12, prohibits locating any structure other than an <br />elevated bridge or dune crossover seaward of the Coastal <br />Construction Control Line. He believed there should be more <br />flexibility in this wording so that we do not preclude <br />construction of lifeguard stations, etc. <br />Commissioner Bowman did not believe this would entail <br />anything other than lifeguard towers, but Community Service <br />Director Thomas pointed out that it could include such <br />things as observation gazebos, etc., and he also felt there <br />should be a broader term to include structures which would <br />serve a public purpose. <br />Mr. Davis continued that there are some provisions in <br />the Ordinance that cover working in the County rights-of-way <br />and easements, and it is his understanding that the County <br />Public Works Department would have to secure a permit to <br />74 c� <br />AUG 17 1983 <br />BOOK .
