ordinance is•good, but there is one real stumbling block - <br />Section 9 where mangrove trimming shall be allowed only <br />between February and March of a given year, which he <br />believed is because of the seedlings. He also objected to <br />the requirement that 70 percent of the canopy of any <br />mangrove tree shall be retained and further noted that red <br />mangrove does not hedge successfully. <br />Chairman Bird emphasized that at the workshops, we need <br />the input of those who will be affected by this ordinance on <br />a day to day basis; we want an ordinance that will protect <br />the trees, etc., but we also want one that will be something <br />we all can live with. <br />The Board of County Commissioners thereupon recessed at <br />12:30 o'clock P.M. for lunch and reconvened at 1:45 o'clock <br />with the same members present except Commissioner Bowman <br />who was temporarily detained. <br />REQUEST BY SHERIFF RE PURCHASE OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT <br />Sheriff Dobeck came before the Board and reviewed his <br />letter as follows: <br />80 <br />AUG 17 1983 BOOK 54 pAu <br />
