Chairman Bird asked if the appropriations represent any <br />major shift in funding appropriation over the way it was done <br />last year. <br />Mr. Barton reported that Federal Revenue Sharing always has <br />been used for capital expenditures of given departments, and this <br />is consistent with how it has been spent in the past. <br />The Chairman asked i.f anyone present wished to be heard. <br />There were none. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />closed the public hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />gave tentative approval of the proposed Federal <br />Revenue Sharing Budget for 1983-84. <br />REQUEST RE HOSI'ESCHUMAN PARK <br />Chairman Bird reported that he received a call from Mrs. <br />Walter Jackson of the Gifford Progressive Civic League discussing <br />the possibility of buying an old`home and having it moved to a <br />piece of undeveloped land the County owns in Geoffrey Subdivision <br />to be used as an additional recreational facility for the Gifford <br />community. It seems that Mrs. Jackson was not successful in <br />acquiring the house, but her request still is that the County <br />consider clearing that property to make it available for <br />recreational use. Chairman Bird reported that Mrs. Jackson <br />assured him that the County would not be asked to provide any <br />type of facility or equipment on the property at this time, and <br />he asked Public Works Director Davis to do some estimating re the <br />costs involved in clearing this property. He then noted that <br />Attorney Brandenburg has researched the history of this property, <br />and <br />it appears <br />that it was a gift from Gulf & Western <br />Industries <br />100 <br />SE p 7 <br />1983 <br />- <br />rAc <br />
