OCT 5 1983 <br />Lighting of 79th & 80th Ave. Between SR 60 & 22nd Street <br />Staff was also requested to go back and analyze all <br />alternatives for providing some vehicle to light short <br />streets. <br />REQUEST FROM DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS TO MEET IN OLD <br />WELFARE BUILDING <br />Ester Rymer, City/County Building Director, reported <br />that the building code states that the Welfare Building is <br />not classified for use by a small assembly. She explained <br />the difficulties in changing the use classification and <br />noted that the DAV would have to spend a significant amount <br />of money to bring the building up to code. <br />Administrator Wright informed the Board that they have <br />received several requests to use this facility, which <br />actually is a 40 -year old barracks building, and the <br />building code always prohibits its use. He felt strongly <br />that it should be torn down. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, that the <br />Board deny the request of the DAV on the <br />basis that the building is unsuitable for <br />their purposes. <br />Commissioner Lyons asked that the vote on this Motion <br />be deferred until Mr. John M.
