r -OCT 19 1983 <br />MCI . <br />Chairman Bird stated that while the request from <br />Alco -Hope is a legitimate and reasonable one, he wanted it <br />clearly understood that the County did not "find" any <br />additional funds, just the ability to raise an additional <br />amount through taxes. He pointed out that during the final <br />budget process, the Commission remained very much consistent <br />and did not reopen the issue of contributing to outside <br />agencies such as Alco -Hope, Spouse Abuse, and many others <br />that unfortunately were denied this year; if the Board <br />wished to readdress this today, however, they certainly <br />could do so. <br />Administrator Wright cautioned the Board that if they <br />grant just one request now, they should be prepared to hear <br />appeals from the other half dozen agencies that were denied <br />funds earlier in the year. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock, the <br />Board unanimously denied Alco -Hope's <br />request for a $20,000 contribution, as <br />the Board felt it had to be consistent <br />with County policy established during the <br />budget hearings. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT PLAN <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 10/18/83: <br />32 <br />
