P ROCLAP-IAT I CN <br />WHEREAS, the quest for knowledge by school children in <br />Indian River County is stimulated and developed through the use <br />of educational resources and services provided by SCHOOL LIBRARY <br />MEDIA programs,; and <br />WHEREAS, SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA programs provide <br />accessibility to a wide variety of necessary educational <br />materials such as books, films, records, tapes, instructional <br />television, and computer software, as well as the equipment <br />needed for their utilization; and <br />WHEREAS, SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA programs provide learning <br />activities designed to enhance reading motivation and to <br />establish the information skills necessary for lifelong learning; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the- full potential of SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA <br />programs is dependent upon trained. professional library media <br />specialists whose varied skills assist teachers and students in <br />effectively using this wide range of learning resources; and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting that special recognition be <br />given. to SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA programs and the role of SCHOOL <br />LIBRARY MEDIA specialists in education throughout Indian River <br />County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS of Indian River County, does hereby <br />designate November 13-19, 1983 as SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA WEEK in <br />Indian River County, and encourages all citizens to become aware <br />of the contributions made by SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA programs in our <br />schools. <br />ATTEST: <br />Fre-da trrig::t, clerk <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIA14 RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />RICHARD N.
