NOV 16 1983 <br />M" 575 rw, 453 <br />Commissioner Bowman objected and felt the inmates <br />should be <br />paid for <br />their labor - <br />possibly 1/3 to them, 1/3 <br />to their <br />families, <br />and the other <br />1/3 to pay for their board <br />in prison. She did not feel they should work for nothing. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried 3 to 1 with <br />Commissioner Lyons having left the meet- <br />ing and Commissioner Bowman voting in <br />opposition. <br />NORTH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT <br />The Board of County Commissioners thereupon recessed at <br />5:45 o'clock P.M. in order that they might convene as the <br />District Board of Fire Commissioners of the North Indian <br />River County Fire District. These Minutes are being <br />prepared separately. <br />The Board of County Commissioners reconvened at 5:48 <br />o'clock P.M. with all members present except Commissioner <br />Lyons who had left the meeting earlier. <br />PURCHASE OF VOTING MACHINES <br />Chairman Bird announced that Supervisor of Elections, <br />Rosemary Richey, has an opportunity to obtain 16 or 17 <br />voting machines which are in good condition. These would be <br />donated to the county by the City of St. Augustine. All we <br />have to do is transport these machines by county truck, <br />which might require two trips, and provide some storage <br />space, but the Chairman felt it is an excellent opportunity <br />to acquire these machines. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, Commissioner Lyons <br />144 <br />6'� <br />
