0 <br />effort and let them devote their attention to other counties. <br />Attorney Brandenburg stressed that there is nothing in <br />this Plan that is mandatory at this point. The only <br />alternative is that if we don't comply, possibly sometime in <br />the future the State would say that we were not following <br />their guidelines and would designate the County as an area of <br />critical State concern. There is an attempt in the <br />Legislature this year to give the State more authority along <br />those lines, and we will have to watch that very carefully. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt it was a good resolution and <br />that we are only agreeing to doing the traffic impact study, <br />which we planned on doing anyway. <br />Chairman Bird also agreed that it was a good <br />resolution, but just wished that the State would provide <br />some money for the study, and Commissioner Lyons suggested <br />that we meet with the City of Vero Beach and Indian River <br />Shores to ask for some assistance in the traffic impact <br />study. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock, the Board <br />unanimously authorized the Chairman and staff <br />to meet with officials of the cities of Vero Beach <br />and Indian River Shores to ask for some assistance <br />in the traffic study. <br />Administrator Wright advised that they were planning to <br />bring the preliminary scope before the Board for approval. <br />N 0 V 211983 <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, that the <br />Board adopt Resolution 83-116 which sets forth <br />the County's position on the Hutchinson Island <br />Resource Management Plan. <br />15 <br />POO 55 :rAct-477 - <br />
