FFB 1 1984 <br />the other side except Hosie Schuman Park. <br />be to the south in the Jeffrey Subdivision. <br />The houses would <br />RECOMMENDATION FOR ENGINEER FOR STATE ROAD #60 WATERLINE <br />Utilities Director Terry Pinto reported that they have <br />negotiated with the first -ranked firm, Carter & Associates, <br />and cannot come to an acceptable agreement for their <br />engineering services on the State Road #60 waterline. The <br />lowest amount reached was $138,000. Since the second -ranked <br />firm, Sippel & Masteller Associates, included a bid of <br />approximately $94,000 with their original proposal, staff <br />would like authorization to proceed with negotiations with <br />that firm. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, that the <br />Board accept the recommendation of the <br />negotiating committee to proceed with <br />negotiations with the second -ranked firm, <br />Sippel & Masteller Associates. <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained that the $40,000 difference <br />between the first firm and the second firm was too great not <br />to go to the second firm. <br />Commissioner Bird asked if the second firm has the <br />expertise in this field of hydraulics and Director Pinto <br />stated that was determined when they compiled the "short <br />list." <br />Chairman.Scurlock asked if it was agreed that the firms <br />could go outside for help; he pointed out that Lloyd & <br />Associates have 48 employees and Carter & Associates have <br />25-30 employees, while Sippel & Masteller have but two <br />employees and wanted to be sure that the timeframe is:met, <br />as time is of the essence on this project.
