not finalized their design. Staff feels the proposed action <br />would be appropriate at this time since our contract prices <br />are very good and we could get this work done based oft the <br />unit quantities bid months ago. <br />Mr. McQueen noted that when the twin pairs was <br />designed, the two lanes on 20th Avenue were pulled together <br />at the intersection, and he would hope that the DOT still <br />would stay -with that design. He -reported that based on that <br />plan, they now basically have brought their full construc- <br />tion up to 19th Place. Mr. McQueen felt it is still an <br />undesirable intersection -because of the way the traffic <br />comes through, but he believed we have got the best we can <br />at this time, and he was'*hoping to get some input from the <br />DOT. <br />Item 3 - Right turn lane at 10th Avenue <br />Director Davis noted that now that Lurias is open and <br />has purchased the mobile home park, there is and will be <br />even more greatly increased activity at this location, - <br />theatres, etc. Since our bid quantities and prices were so <br />good, it was found that we could come in and provide a right <br />turn lane going eastbound to get the traffic into the back <br />door for a cost of about $4,000. Mr. Davis felt this is a <br />good buy and would improve the traffic flow tremendously. <br />It would be a four lane section just west of 10th Avenue and <br />actually is only widening of the pavement in that area to <br />get the flow out of the through lanes. <br />.Item 4 - East Bound Lane 10th Ave. to end of job <br />Mr. Davis explained that this item is to continue the <br />above lane from 10th Avenue to U.S.1, to the transition that <br />the DOT is going to construct at that intersection. He <br />informed the Board that since our recent approval of funding <br />the shortfall for the U.S.1 and 17th Street intersection, it <br />now appears there is a possibility that the DOT may fund <br />that $63,000, and we have been told to hold the joint <br />51 <br />FEB 2 2 1984 6� ; ea€�, <br />
