MAR 14 1984Boax <br />n <br />Chairman Scurlock felt this was a very satisfying <br />accomplishment and mentioned that he has heard that it is a <br />"people's" library, not a "librarian's" or an <br />"association's" library. <br />Commissioner Bird asked if the library seeks out the <br />donation of books, and Director Walsh reported that they had <br />received so many books by Christmas that she had to ask that <br />donations be held off until mid-March. They have received <br />some beautiful donations and believed that perhaps half of <br />their collection is from donations. <br />Commissioner Bird suggested that the Board designate a <br />Library Day by proclamation to encourage donations of books <br />or•money. Director Walsh believed.that would be very <br />helpful and suggested a day during the week of April 8-14, <br />which is National Library Week, or April 18th, which is <br />Florida's Library Day. <br />Commissioner Lyons commended Director Walsh on the <br />great job she has done this past year. He asked if they had <br />a good relationship with the Vero Beach Library, and <br />Director Walsh stated that Mary Kaiser and -she have been <br />working things out and she felt the situation is improving. <br />In order to improve communications, it was agreed that <br />the Vero Beach Library Board and the Sebastian River Library <br />Board would each send a representative to the respective <br />boards. <br />NORTH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT <br />The Board of County Commissioners recessed at 10:55 <br />o'clock A.M. in order that the District Board of the North <br />County Fire District might convene.
