ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The County and Circuit Court Judges have reviewed the design <br />and have no objections. County staff has no objections to the <br />design., subject to the attached comments. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends approval of final payment in the amount <br />of $572.57. Funding to be from Account 301-131-519-33.19 <br />Administrator Wright noted that final payment of <br />$572.57 was due for the design phase. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Lyons, the Board <br />unanimously (4-0) authorized final payment of <br />$572.57 to Calmes and Kellagher Architects for <br />the design phase of the fourth courtroom. <br />The Commission then discussed the matter of advertising <br />for bids for construction of the fourth courtroom. <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis recommended that the <br />Fire District Inspector review the plans to be sure there is <br />no question about meeting all fire regulations. <br />Chairman Scurlock expressed the Board's reluctance to <br />do anything that would impact the downtown area negatively <br />and pointed out that the Courthouse is an integral part of <br />the area. Although the proposed fourth courtroom has been <br />referred to as "temporary", he did not personally anticipate <br />moving the courtrooms over to the criminal justice complex <br />for at least ten years. He noted that extensive landscaping <br />and beautification of the courthouse parking lot had just <br />been completed, and felt there would be other uses of the <br />courtroom that would be acceptable for the facility for a <br />considerable time beyond the ten years. <br />Commissioner Bird asked if it was conceivable for some <br />time in the future to split up the criminal or civil courts <br />15 <br />MAY 2 3 1984 BOOK 57 PAGE 132 <br />
