countywide turns out to be 1544 per thousand dollars of _ _ <br />taxable value. <br />Commissioner Wodtke emphasized that this is just an <br />example of how this would be if we were to raise $390,000 <br />and charge it to the total countywide taxable values. <br />Discussion continued as to how the municipalities, <br />other than the City of Vero Beach would participate, and <br />Mr. Barton reported that it was not planned to ask any <br />municipality other than Vero Beach to make any additional <br />contribution over what their residents would be paying in a <br />countywide tax. Based on the 1983 Tax Roll, this would <br />amount to about $22,963 for Sebastian and $56,068 for Indian <br />River Shores. The West County Fire District which is for <br />property west of I-95, equates to most of our agricultural <br />district, and they would pay $16,306. <br />Commissioner Wodtke brought up the possibility of <br />entering into a side agreement with the Town of Indian River <br />Shores because of some special benefits they might receive <br />as they are located right on the ocean. <br />Commissioner Bird noted that it seems the bulk would <br />come from where the bulk of taxable value is located, and <br />Mr. Barton agreed that most of the value ends up being <br />stacked towards the river and the beach. <br />Chairman Scurlock believed there is an increasing <br />assessed value located to the west, and Mr. Barton concurred <br />that probably is the tendency, but this formula was meant <br />for a one-time up -front assessment to do this project; it <br />was not the intent to use it over and over again. He <br />further pointed out that the formula just discussed was <br />merely intended to give an example from which the Board <br />could get an idea of the equity and the cost of doing the <br />first project. <br />Commissioner Lyons commended them for coming up with an <br />example, but emphasized that his question as to who is <br />82 <br />JUN 6 1984 BOOK 5 7 Pa -UE 377 <br />
