-AUG '8 1984 <br />BOOK57.FnJE914 <br />RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT <br />INTRODUCTION: <br />This element serves as a guide to plan for current and <br />future demands for recreation and open space. Basic principles <br />of the recreation and open space element include: <br />1. The collection of sufficient information to <br />allow for assessment of alternatives and <br />making informed decisions; <br />2. Planning by a multi -disciplinary team of managers, <br />planners and technical experts; <br />3. Public participation should be encouraged in the <br />planning process; <br />4. Flexibility in order to adapt to changing demands. <br />RECREATION AND OPEN SPACE OBJECTIVES: <br />1. To provide a wide range of recreational opportunities <br />which meet the current and future demands of all <br />segments of the community; <br />2. To use natural resources to full advantage in meeting <br />recreation and open space needs; <br />3. To preserve the unique and irreplaceable natural <br />resources; V_ <br />4. To coordinate with State, Regional and Municipal <br />levels.. of government in providing recreational <br />opportunities; <br />5. To integrate recreational space and facilities <br />into all urban residential areas. <br />RECREATION POLICIES: <br />The park system shall be expanded to insure that all <br />residents have adequate recreational opportunities.
