SEP 10 1984 8001(°. <br />Administrator Wright stated that he would like <br />direction from the Board as soon as possible as to what they <br />want staff to do. He felt if the decision has been made to <br />stay downtown, we should get what we have to have now <br />because it will not get any cheaper. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />instructed staff to begin planning for relo- <br />cation of the Sheriff's office from the Annex <br />and the readjustment of office space and <br />expansion of office space for the States Attor- <br />ney and Public Defender and to come back with <br />a recommendation as to suitable space for the <br />Sheriff at a reasonable cost. , <br />Administrator Wright brought up the problem of finding <br />the additional monies needed for the fourth courtroom, <br />probably in the range of $160-180,000. He did not know <br />where we are going to get this internally unless we <br />reshuffle the budget; therefore, he would recommend we <br />borrow the money, refer this to the Finance Committee, and <br />instruct staff to pursue it. <br />Chairman Scurlock concurred that this should be <br />recommended to the Finance Committee, but felt we should <br />enlarge the scope to include considering additional land <br />purchases, etc., in the downtown area. <br />Commissioner Lyons concurred and felt we should start <br />looking for around $350,000. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />referred the above matter to the Finance <br />Committee and instructed that they recommend <br />W <br />
