RESOLUTION NO. 84-67 <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County's data processing needs <br />are presently served by several separate and incompatible computer <br />systems; and <br />WHEREAS, many County government functions require the <br />large scale interdepartmental transfer of data; and <br />WHEREAS, the County has awarded contracts to private <br />companies to facilitate intergovernmental transfers of data; and <br />WHEREAS, current state of the art technology is <br />available which has the capability to eliminate unnecessary delays <br />and expense through the adoption of a central data processing <br />center to serve all Indian River County governmental departments; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County is interested in eliminating any and all sources of <br />unncecessary expense within the County budget in order to provide <br />lower taxes and expanded services to the citizens of Indian River <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, implementation of advanced technology central <br />data processing systems has proven effective in reducing costs and <br />improving services in other counties: <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA as follows: <br />A. That the County's best interest would be served by <br />studying the feasibility of implementing a central data processing <br />system for Indian River County. <br />B. A Data Processing Committee is hereby established, <br />to be composed of the following members: <br />1. A member of the Board of County Commissioners, <br />appointed by the Chairman, subject to approval of the Board of <br />County Commissioners; <br />2. The Property Appraiser; <br />3.
