Director Thomas advised that if we agree <br />to the 4 -month extension, we need to have insurance on the <br />property. <br />Donna Plat, volunteer of the PTA Headstart Program, <br />explained that her grandson just started in the program, and <br />urged the Board to grant an extension so that the much <br />needed program can continue. <br />Commissioner Wodtke was disappointed that Florida <br />Community Health Centers has not lived up to their <br />commitment and understood that those dollars which were <br />going to be spent in renovating the Wabasso School are going <br />to be spent in the Ft. Pierce area. <br />Leonard Edwards, Headstart Director, reported that Mr. <br />Brown had explained that the initial funding was lost <br />because they failed to meet budgetary requirements. An <br />assessment of the area must be done and Mr. Brown expects <br />that to be completed by the end of the extension. <br />Meanwhile, he has contacted the Coca-Cola people in Ft. <br />Pierce to get some funds for migrant worker centers, and <br />hopefully they will be able to obtain some funds for the <br />Wabasso Center. <br />Mr. Edwards asked the Board to grant the extension with <br />the hope that funds will be forthcoming in the near future. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, the Board by a vote <br />of 4-0, Commissioner Bowman having left the <br />meeting, granted a 4 -month extension of the <br />reversionary clause, as recommended by the County <br />Attorney, with the understanding that a progress <br />program will be presented to the Board within 60 <br />days. <br />70 <br />
