"Most people see this as an <br />economic disaster, but as a business person, I'm not ready to jump to that conclusion." <br />All Aboard Florida has begun construction on its Miami to West Palm Beach line with $405 <br />million of high risk bonds sold last year. But it is still waiting for financing for the West Palm <br />Beach to Orlando leg. <br />The Coral Gables -based company is hoping to get final approval for $1.75 billion in tax-exempt <br />private activity bonds to supplement or replace a $1.6 billion Federal Railroad Administration <br />loan it had previously applied for and which is still pending. <br />To make the trip from Miami to Orlando in less than three hours, All Aboard Florida has stops <br />planned only in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. <br />McDonald said at one time there may have been an appetite for a stop in Stuart, but that public <br />opinion has largely turned against the project. <br />"There has been a desire to bring train service back to the city, but we don't want 32 high-speed <br />trains buzzing through our downtown," McDonald said.
