Baird, County Administrator <br />THROUGH: John King, Director of Emergency Services <br />FROM: Brian Burkeen, Assistant Chief <br />DATE: September 1, 2015 I <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Change Order for Renovations on Fire Rescue Station #1 (1500 <br />Old Dixie) <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given formal consideration by the <br />Emergency Services District Board of Commissioners. <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />On December 16, 2014, the BCC approved Work Order No. 1 which provided for a scope of work <br />for the renovation construction for Fire Station. Since that date, it was discovered that the scope of <br />work needed to be changed and expanded in order to accomplish the additional tasks agreed upon in <br />meetings. The addition of a modular dormitory for temporary housing was ordered and additional <br />costs are needed to design and install the building for habitation. This costs includes connections for <br />water, sewer, fire suppression systems, electric and telecommunications. In order to meet the <br />building codes for the City of Vero Beach, additional water lines and adjunct hardware had to be <br />replaced. <br />Continuing with the Board approved Professional Design/Build Services Agreement with Barth <br />Construction; the attached summary outlines costs of $75,320.00, making the total cost of Amended <br />Work Order No. 1 $192,647.00 <br />FUNDING: <br />ITEM <br />Amount <br />Account Number <br />Station #1 Renovation Construction <br />$75,320.00 <br />11412022-066510-15007 <br />Funding is to be derived from Emergency Services District budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the change order for Fire Station #1. <br />343 <br />
