REPORT ON MCKEE JUNGLE GARDENS <br />Commissioner Bird requested that his report on McKee Jungle <br />Gardens be deferred until the next meeting. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) deferred the above report as requested <br />by Commissioner Bird. <br />DISCUSSION RE ACTION TAKEN BY HUTCHINSON ISLAND RESOURCE <br />MANAGEMENT STUDY COMMITTEE (Continued) <br />Planning Director Keating reported that the Hutchinson <br />Island Committee met last Thursday to evaluate how well <br />governments in the study area have done since the Resource <br />Management Plan was adopted. Basically, the committee had three <br />alternatives, i.e., they could find all the local governments <br />were in complete compliance; that they were partially in <br />compliance; or that there was no compliance. The Committee <br />determined each local government had made progress in <br />implementing the Resource Management Plan, but that none were in <br />full compliance and identified for each government the area where <br />they were deficient. The Committee then passed a Motion which <br />specifically stated that they felt it would not be necessary to <br />designate any as areas of critical concern, but because of the <br />time restraints involved, they suggested that the state initiate <br />the process of designation with the provision that this process <br />would be stopped for each local government when that government <br />had complied with the specific items correcting their specific <br />deficiencies. <br />To avoid designation, Indian River County must take certain <br />action, which involves two major steps. First, by January 11th, <br />the Commission must pass a Resolution assuring the State that it <br />will comply with all the Plan policies; will rectify all areas of <br />deficiency; specify steps that will be taken; and have a time <br />55 <br />NOV 211984 8100Kc€ <br />I <br />
