a desirable or responsible action by the Board to put all the <br />shopping on the west side of the bridge and have all the traffic <br />cross the bridge. <br />It was determined that no one further wished to be heard. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) closed the public hearing. <br />The public was informed that the Board now is at the point <br />of making a decision as to whether to reduce the node, expand it, <br />or leave it the same. Attorney Brandenburg clarified that it <br />would not actually be changed today, because that would have to <br />be advertised. <br />In the ensuing discussion, Chief Planner Shearer explained <br />that currently the node is listed as Tourist/Commercial, but the <br />description of the node says the uses would be tourist/commercial <br />or neighborhood commercial in nature, which precludes general <br />commercial type uses. Mr. Challacombe's analysis says what we <br />would be looking for would be neighborhood commercial and the <br />present general description of the node fits that very well. <br />Commissioner Bird noted that staff recommended the 25 acre <br />node remain and the remaining acreage be restricted to <br />neighborhood node uses. We would not be committing to place the <br />acreage at any particular location. We do not want to further <br />impact that intersection if there are other areas that would be <br />of lesser impact. <br />Commissioner Bowman did believe that would encourage spot <br />zoning, and Mr. Challacombe agreed that neighborhood nodes would <br />be placed in a residential area. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) accepted the recommendation of staff <br />61 <br />DEC 51984 BOOK 59 PAGE 1,19 <br />
