Boa 5 9 876 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />(3-0) accepted the Rate Tariff as submitted by <br />Breezy Village Utilities. <br />!/REQUEST FOR HELP IN LIGHTING SEBASTIAN AREA LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD <br />Jeff Horne, recent County resident and President of the <br />Board of Directors of the Sebastian Area Little League, came <br />before the Board, noting that even though Commissioner Bird was <br />not present today, he wished to make his presentation because of <br />a pressing time schedule. He informed the Board in detail of his <br />considerable background and involvement with youth and safety in <br />sports, which resulted in his becoming President of the Sebastian <br />Area Little League. <br />Mr. Horne reported that the Sebastian Little League will <br />have between 200-225 youngsters this year, and they now are in <br />the process of considering sanctioning a Senior League. Mr. <br />Horne reported that his first action as President of the Little <br />League Association was to take control of the field which he <br />accomplished by getting the City of Sebastian to agree to a 20 <br />year lease. The League now has exclusive control of that field <br />and can lease it back to the City under certain conditions. <br />Their primary goal is getting this control was in order to <br />develop the field, which has now almost totally deteriorated, <br />into a regulation safe Little League field for the youngsters in <br />North Indian River County. <br />Mr. Horne then described the condition of the field, noting <br />that the concession stand is not approved by Public Health; <br />seventeen of the lights are out and twelve of the sockets are <br />unusable; and the irrigation system is gone. Their <br />reconstruction program includes such things as removing a solid <br />wall around the field and installing a plastic temporary fence <br />and an outfield chain link fence; installing a new irrigation <br />system; repairing the concession stand and the field itself; and <br />34 <br />
