FEB 27 1985 <br />BOOK 60 PAGE-. 21 <br />Director Keating also noted that staff sent letters to <br />all land clearing firms notifying them of the ordinance, and <br />Mr. Staski stated he had received this notice only after <br />this matter was brought to his attention. <br />Chairman Lyons asked Mr. Staski if he had ever obtained <br />a permit for land clearing before and Mr. Staski answered <br />that he had not, but pointed out that he had gone to the <br />• County from time to time and was advised that it was not <br />necessary in those particular cases; however, he could not <br />remember the name of the person who told him that. <br />Mr. Meola repeated that the lot was mostly cleared of <br />junk that had been dumped over a period of years. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />required Mr. Meola and Mr. Staski to obtain an <br />after -the -fact land clearing permit and authorize <br />staff to levy a fine of only $100 due to some <br />extenuating circumstances, with the understanding <br />that if the fine is not paid voluntarily, the <br />County will take the matter to court. <br />Administrator Wright suggested that an escrow account <br />be set up for these fines. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />established an escrow account for monies received <br />through tree ordinance and land clearing <br />violations. <br />22 <br />
