Mr. O'Donnell felt Indian River County has the <br />ideal site and setup for this process and pointed out that <br />two potential customers for the energy are located nearby -- <br />Ocean Spray and the IRC Correctional Institution. <br />Commissioner Scurlock advised Mr. O'Donnell that the <br />Board has already considered this alternative and would be <br />very interested in it when the time came. <br />Chairman Lyons agreed that he would be a very big <br />supporter of this process. <br />Director Pinto felt there is no question that these <br />alternatives will be considered, but pointed out that the <br />primary concern now is the financing needed to close out the <br />present cell at the landfill. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />authorized Utility Services to advertise for <br />rate consultants for a solid waste study. <br />Commissioner Wodtke pointed out that back in 1977 we <br />brought the property and built the landfill that was <br />supposed to have lasted 20 years for approximately $300,000 <br />and now, just eight years later, we are talking about <br />building another at a cost of $3 -million. <br />Director Pinto -emphasized that it will now cost <br />$400,000 just to close the present cell. <br />NORTH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT <br />v/ The Board of County Commissioners recessed at 11:00 <br />o'clock A.M. in order that the District Board of the North <br />County Fire District might convene.
