the benefits of having it on County -owned property is that it <br />will be available when we need it. If this were designated in an <br />industrial area, for instance, it is conceivable that it could be <br />sold and used for another purpose in the interim. <br />Director Pinto confirmed that these sites were designated <br />because they are permanent and will always be available. <br />Commissioner Wodtke believed the transfer site located in <br />Pompano now can service all of southeast Florida, and Ron Brooks <br />stated that Waste Management believes they can manage most of the <br />waste generated in south Florida at their site, but the DER <br />doesn't really know if that will be adequate or not. <br />In conclusion, Mr. Brooks noted that the county also is <br />required to establish a program for monitoring the g.enerators and <br />staff has drafted an ordinance which will go to workshop this <br />month.
