i ® � <br />CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE - FELLSMERE VOLUNTEER <br />AMBULANCE SERVICE <br />The Board reviewed the following memo letter dated 3/28/85: <br />CITY CLERK'S OFFICE <br />PHONE 571-0116 <br />March 28, 1985 <br />Titlj of 21yrthin rr <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />POST OFFICE BOX 38 <br />FELLSMERE, FLORIDA - 32948 <br />Pat Lyons, Chairman <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />County Commission Building <br />Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />Dear Mr. Lyons, <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />PHONE 571-1360 <br />The Citizens of the City of Fellsmere request that a certifi- <br />cate of need be granted to the "Fellsmere Volunteer Ambulance Ser- <br />vice", to provide Basic Life Support Service, in Sectors 12, 14, and <br />16 of the Emergency Management Map. <br />We have approximately $4,000.00 in funds pledged at this time. A <br />building which we are renovating to house the service, and we have suf- <br />fieient certified personnel to man said station, with EMTs, First Aid <br />Persons, Dispatcher's, and Driver's now enrolled in IRCC State Certi- <br />fied Drivers Program. <br />We wish to advise at this timeit takes approximately 20 to 30 <br />minutes for an ambulance to respond to the Fellsmere Area because, of <br />the distance involved, in addition the current ambulance personnel are <br />not familiar with the area, therefore, causing a further delay. We <br />feel that in "Life Threatening Situations' this is to long a period of <br />time. Although no blame is being placed on the operating personnel. <br />We anticipate being operational in three to six months at which <br />time:we propose to be available for mutual Aid when requested. <br />This will be a non-profit volunteer service to all of the Citi- <br />zens of the Fellsmere area.on a twenty-four hour, seven day's a week <br />basis. <br />- We would appreciate being placed on the earliest Agenda possible. <br />Attached are some letters and signatures of concerned citizens <br />of the Fellsmere Community. <br />Respectfully yours, <br />'o n2'/rI R.
