He advised that <br />the straight lease agreement is based on the number of units that <br />we have on the air. At present we cannot qualify with the FCC to <br />go into a full trunking system because there must be a certain <br />number of units'per trunk. However, with this leasing system we <br />can have that luxury and, at the end of the 88-89 fiscal year, <br />could have enough units on the air to qualify for the trunking <br />system and justify the purchase of the trunking equipment. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird that the Board approve the <br />master plan for a County -wide radio system. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Bird asked what the Motion <br />would commit us to beyond this year, and Administrator Wright <br />explained that the Motion would authorize the master plan and <br />approve the spending of $17,888 out of Utilities for fiscal year <br />85-86, with subsequent phase -ins to be brought back to the Board <br />at annual budget hearings. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
