JUL 17 1995 BOOK 6 1 "F5 <br />Vice Chairman Scurlock understood that the Housing Authority <br />wants the entire site. <br />Attorney Brandenburg advised that the County could establish <br />a not-for-profit corporation and appoint members to a board of <br />directors who could then lease the building out. <br />Lengthy discussion ensued regarding how much the County <br />would pay towards the renovation of the building. Administrator <br />Wright believed $11,000 was a very conservative estimate for just <br />the work that needs to be done in the cafeteria. <br />Vice Chairman Scurlock felt the Commission has to consider <br />the needs of the entire community and the capability to fund <br />those needs. <br />Commissioner Bowman believed that we have two separate <br />questions today. What are we going to do with the cafeteria and <br />what are we going to do with the classrooms. <br />Administrator Wright still wanted to know who is going to <br />pay for it, and what cost figures to use in negotiations. <br />Vice Chairman Scurlock felt that the answer to funding all <br />these requests is to raise the ad valorem taxes two or three <br />mills. <br />Commissioner Wodtke stated that at this point he would like <br />to see what we can do to assist the Civic League so that they can <br />use the cafeteria, and unless a conceptual plan for use of the <br />entire site is developed, he would like to see the County remove <br />or dispose of the other buildings. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Wodtke to request staff to <br />see if we can assist the West Wabasso Progressive Civic League in <br />their request to use the cafeteria and determine what repairs <br />need to be done with the costs being estimated by both staff and <br />the Civic League. The Motion died for lack of a second. <br />Commissioner Bird felt we should not close the door on Head <br />Start's request and that we should offer them the same courtesy <br />as the Civic League. He suggested that we should determine what <br />needs to be done and how much it will cost to rehabilitate the <br />.o <br />
