<br />In response to proposals made to the Florida Supreme Court when
<br />the Court last considered the need for additional judgeships,
<br />and developing interest in the Florida Legislature, the Court
<br />will be considering the possibility of redrawing certain of
<br />Florida's circuit court boundaries. Also, the Court has been
<br />asked to consider the need for creation of additional district
<br />courts of appeal or judges.
<br />To assist the Court in this matter, the Chief Justice.has
<br />appointed the Courts Restructure Commission. The role of the
<br />Commission is to: identify any problems in the handling of
<br />litigation that would suggest the need for organizational or
<br />geographical changes in certain circuit courts or Florida's
<br />district courts of appeal; gather statistical and other data that
<br />would accurately reflect the scope and character of such problems;
<br />evaluate the need for redrawing court boundaries; and assess
<br />other alternatives to assist the courts in responding to wort -.load
<br />and related problems which may exist. The Commission has
<br />scheduled public hearings in Orlando on September 19 and in
<br />Ft. Lauderdale on September 20 to allow members of the bench, the
<br />_bar, and the public to speak to the issues it will consider.
<br />Anyone wishing to speak 'at the hearings is encouraged to
<br />contact Ms. Ditti Davis, Florida Supreme Court, (904)488-0357.
<br />The hearings will be held in Orlando'at the Wyndham Hotel,-
<br />6677_Sea Harbor Drive,, -on Thursday, September 19,_ 10.A.M. to. -
