SEO 18 1985 <br />BOOK <br />E 61 6- 0 ," <br />L,,� FAQ E t� j-0 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 85-114 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT <br />THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT RECOMMEND TO THE FLORIDA <br />LEGISLATURE THAT INDIAN RIVER COUNTY REMAIN IN THE <br />NINETEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT AND FOURTH DISTRICT <br />COURT OF APPEALS. <br />WHEREAS, the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit is <br />currently comprised of Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and <br />Okeechobee counties; and <br />WHEREAS, the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit lies within <br />the jurisdiction of the Fourth District Court of Appeals; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Supreme Court has appointed a <br />Court Restructure Committee to study the redrawing of Florida's <br />circuit court boundaries; and <br />WHEREAS, a proposed redrawing of Florida's circuit <br />court boundaries may result in Indian River County being severed <br />from the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit and moved to the Eighteenth <br />Judicial Circuit with Brevard County; and <br />WHEREAS, the counties within the current Nineteenth <br />Judicial Circuit are similar in population and land area; and <br />WHEREAS, there is an historic social and economic <br />relationship between the counties comprising the Nineteenth <br />Judicial Circuit due to their proximity and similar demographics; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, various officers of the court having <br />jurisdiction throughout the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit reside in <br />Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, the population of Brevard County is <br />presently larger than the population of all the counties within <br />the existing Nineteenth Judicial Circuit; and <br />WHEREAS, Brevard County has sufficient population to <br />create a separate judicial circuit without the addition of Indian <br />River County; and <br />
