SEP <br />25 <br />1985 <br />BOOKPAcE28U <br />in this building; <br />the other prime site being at the <br />new Jail site <br />which would probably involve acquiring additional land. He <br />believed that brings us back to the land near the Administration <br />Building, and stated he would support moving ahead with that <br />site. He noted that we need to be assured that we have adequate <br />parking and access, but believed this would serve to centralize <br />facilities and even offer the possibility of moving some offices <br />to the new site. Commissioner Scurlock believed we have <br />validated enough monies to accommodate nearly a three million <br />dollar project and felt we should go ahead and design the <br />facility to deliver the type of services we are charged with <br />rather than try to "jerry rig" something else. <br />Commissioner Wodtke did agree those are the two best <br />possibilities for sites, especially with the availability of <br />sewer and water and availability of compatible services. If we <br />have to buy additional land at the Jail site, he believed we will <br />want it for correctional facilities, and, therefore, if we do <br />need to buy some additional land, he felt we should try to buy it <br />here. Commissioner Wodtke then discussed the possibility of a <br />land swap with the City, parking, etc. He also discussed the <br />need for more space at the present Administration Building and <br />the possibility of going up a few more floors or moving the <br />School Board. He stressed the need for a master plan for the <br />whole area. <br />Commissioner Scurlock believed we need to authorize <br />Commissioner Wodtke to work on a master plan and to go ahead with <br />procuring an architect to dovetail all this. <br />Administrator Wright stated that he would like to be able to <br />begin the competitive bidding procedure for an architect. He <br />pointed out that we have a very definite need for additional <br />space in this building right now. If we put the Health <br />Department adjacent to this facility, he believed we will need to <br />acquire more land and look at this from the standpoint of where <br />we will be in five to ten years.
