Figure 3-1 <br />SAMPLE EXECUTIVE ORDER <br />STATE OF FLORIDA, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR <br />EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER <br />WHEREAS, on 20 , a hazardous materials emergency condition <br />was declared at the chemical plant, operated by the <br />Chemical Company in Indian River county, causing a potentially hazardous <br />chemical release into the atmosphere; and <br />WHEREAS, certain additional specialized equipment, personnel and resources are <br />required; and <br />WHEREAS, local governments in the affected counties and municipalities have <br />exerted every effort to assist the affected citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Commission has declared a local state of <br />emergency and has requested assistance from the state; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Charlie Crist, as Governor of the State of Florida, by virtue <br />of the authority vested in me by Article IV, Section I(A), Florida Constitution (1968), <br />Section 252.31 et seq., Florida Statutes (1974), Section 250.06, Florida Statutes <br />(1973), and all applicable law, do hereby declare the existence of a disaster <br />emergency and promulgate the following Executive Order effective immediately: <br />That a state of emergency exists <br />potentially hazardous effects <br />Chemical Plant. <br />within Indian River County due to the <br />of a chemical release from the <br />2. That the Florida Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan is hereby <br />activated and the Department of Community Affairs shall be responsible for <br />emergency management and is hereby empowered to take all action under <br />the plan necessary to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the people <br />and property in the vicinity of the chemical release. <br />3.
