Keati g, &XCP REQUEST TO AMEND THE <br />Planning & Development Director THOROUGHFARE PLAN <br />FROMRiVhard Shearer, AICP REFERENCES: CPA -024 <br />Chief, Long -Range Planning RICH2 <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their <br />regular meeting of October 23, 1985. <br />DESCRIPTION & CONDITIONS <br />Grand Harbor, Inc., is requesting to amend the Thoroughfare Plan, <br />which is part of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive <br />Plan, by deleting 49th Street (Lindsey Road) between U.S. 1 and <br />Indian River Boulevard extension. <br />This request is to allow the developer more flexibility in <br />designing an entranceway into the proposed Grand Harbor develop- <br />ment. <br />On March 14, 1985, the Planning and Zoning Commission tabled <br />action on this request. <br />On March 19, 1985, the Transportation Planning Committee <br />con --this request and tabled action until their April meeting. <br />On April 11, 1985, the Planning and Zoning Commission tabled <br />action on this request until their first meeting in May. <br />On April 16, the Transportation Planning Committee considered <br />this request and voted unanimously to neither recommend approval <br />nor denial of this request. The Committee stated that they felt <br />the Board of County Commissioners should consider this request <br />when the entire development was considered for approval. <br />On May 9, 1985, the Planning and Zoning Commission .voted 4 -to -1 <br />to neither recommend approval nor denial of this request. - - <br />On June 17, 1985, the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council <br />informed the Planning Department that they had no objection to <br />this proposed amendment. <br />On June 27, 1985, the State Department of Community Affairs <br />notified the County that they had no objection to this proposed <br />amendment. <br />ALTERNATIVES & ANALYSIS <br />The Public Works division and Planning Department have reviewed <br />this request in relation to the overall Thoroughfare Plan. The <br />staff offers the following comments relative to this request: <br />1) Forty-ninth Street, a proposed secondary collector, is <br />intended to serve abutting property and to collect and <br />distribute localized traffic to U.S. 1 and Indian River <br />Boulevard. <br />85 <br />OCT 19 BOOK 6 PrAGF.S44 <br />
