NOV 6 1985 <br />BOOK 62 fAr,G6o <br />Commissioner Scurlock further noted that the pari-mutuel <br />funds originally were supposed to be used.for education, and he <br />wished to know where these funds are going. <br />Commissioner Bird felt we should address this matter with <br />our Legislative Delegation. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked if Mr. Landy was notified when to <br />appear, and Administrative Aide, Liz Forlani, confirmed that Mr. <br />Landy had been notified, but he has not appeared. <br />It was agreed to take no action at this time. <br />DISCUSSION IN REGARD TO USE OF DOUGLAS SCHOOL <br />Administrator Wright referred the Board to his memo <br />summarizing the proposals made by those who are interested in <br />making use of the Douglas School site: <br />TO: The Honorable Members of DATE: October 28, 1985 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />SUBJECT: Douglas school <br />FROM: Michael Wright REFERENCES: <br />County Administrator <br />Four organizations have expressed interest in entering <br />into long term lease agreements for all or part of the Douglas <br />- - School site in Wabasso. In addition, two of the groups want <br />cash contributions to improve the conditions of the buildings <br />and grounds. In no particular order, I shall attempt to summarize <br />the most recent requests of each interested party. <br />Economic Opportunities Council of Indian River Countv: <br />Executive Director Leonard Edwards wants the use of classrooms <br />six, seven, eight and nine, the grass area between the build- <br />ings and the grass area immediately north of the classrooms. <br />The organization is willing to pay $170 a month rent and <br />wants the County to contribute $12,000 to pay for what Mr. <br />Leonard estimates to be necessary renovation expenses. <br />Indian River County Housing Authority: Executive Direc- <br />tor Ed Regan has requested a long term arrangement for the <br />entire site to develop low cost housing. The request does <br />not include the land set aside for the Wabasso station of <br />the North Indian River County Fire Department. Funding for <br />the renovations would come from state and federal sources. <br />Housing Authority representatives met late last week with <br />approving agencies and absent any last minute changes, the <br />project's approval is considered a "long shot". <br />62 <br />
